Our website provides you with the important background about our pediatricians, staff, office hours, financing policies, appointment procedures, maps, directions to our office in Haverstraw, NY and other useful information.

What is now Haverstraw Pediatrics started as a one man practice when Dr. Paul Bloom opened his office at 85 New Main St. in Haverstraw in the late 70’s (we are currently located at 48 New Main St., Haverstraw). We must have done something right because now we are a 4 person group. Dr. Shoeb Amin joined in 1980, Dr. Dipak Banker in 1990,  Dr. Shelley Carolan joined in September of 2012. Robin Epstein, PNP came on board in January of 2014 and finally Dr. Petersel in September of 2014. During those 30 plus years we have provided the best possible medical care to the children of Haverstraw and its environs, oftentimes under challenging circumstances.

We serve a very diverse group of patients and we speak most of their languages; between the doctors we speak English, Spanish, Hindi, Gujarati, and Urdu.

We are the only practice in the county we know that has office hours until 7:00pm Monday through Friday. We are available for after hours consultation for emergencies. We accept most insurances. We have a very friendly and a dedicated staff that lives in the local community and are very committed to serving the community.

We have received many awards from insurance companies for excellent patient care; you’ll find these awards on display in the office. We’ve been recognized as a "medical home" as indicated by the NCQA logo to the right.. Only a select group of medical practices qualify as a “medical home”. We have been recognized by the American Academy of Pediatrics(AAP) as a PROS (Pediatric Research in Office Setting) Practice.

We are the only office in Rockland to participate in the Reach Out and Read (ROR), a nationwide program aimed to improve literacy skills and encourage families reading together. The age appropriate books we give out come from contributions from the practice, from ROR and well wishers. Donations of new and lightly used books are welcome. For more on ROR, go to their website.

We use an electronic medical record to record patient information. By sending prescriptions electronically or printing them we avoid potential mistakes made with handwritten prescriptions. You may request a print or electronic copy of your record; we need 3-4 days to provide an electronic copy Our website is haverstrawpediatrics.com. With this website we hope to provide useful medical information about common pediatric problems(just click on the "sick child" button on the left side of the home page and enter your child's symptom), let you make your own appointments and even view your lab results. It may be some time before the website becomes fully functional. We certainly would appreciate your opinions/suggestions on how to make this website and any aspect of our practice better and more useful for you.

We want to thank you for choosing Haverstraw Pediatrics for your child's medical care and welcome you to our practice. We can assure you that you'll feel confident in our ability to meet and exceed all of your expectations. Please call our Haverstraw office  or go to our patient portal.
